Current Classes

 (1)   Modern Foundation Paper Piecing Fundamentals: (3 or 6 Hour, or Multi-Day Workshop/Retreat)

In this course, students will master the essentials of Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) by crafting a contemporary and vividly designed FPP pattern. The block, meticulously designed for this purpose, combines a modern aesthetic with an intriguing visual composition.

Throughout the course, participants will delve into the core aspects of FPP, including navigating complex angles, achieving precise point alignment, fabric placement and positioning, understanding seam line orientation, ensuring shape continuity, and executing accurate piecing techniques. These skills will empower students to confidently assemble both small and large, irregularly shaped fabric pieces, equipping them with the ability to undertake any FPP project with ease and assurance.

This workshop often features a Custom Capturing Memories Quilt Pattern Series based on the landscape of where the retreat is being held.

(2)  Cross Stitch Flower Quilt: A Pattern-less Approach (Min: 6 Hour Class or Multi-Day Workshop/Retreat)

Design your OWN cross-stitch flower quilt! In this 6-hour class, we will learn how to transform a photo of a flower into a cross-stitch inspired quilt. Students will tackle three main elements: design, construction & color. Using only free online design resources, students will examine how to adapt a photo into a grid/cross-stitch quilt. Students will explore two ways of composing the cross-stitch flower Quilt, one with simple squares and another with foundation paper piecing, while constructing a sample mini flower quilt using the efficient and "quilt preview" canvas of fusible grid interfacing. Students will play with color composition and structure while using an array of color values and hues to bring their cross-stitch flower quilts to life!

Virtual LIVE Workshops via Zoom

  • These Workshops are based off of more simple patterns that can be completed within the time frames set.
  • Virtual LIVE workshops tend to run anywhere from 3-6 hours, depending on requested arrangement.
  • Virtual LIVE Workshops focus on Foundation Paper Piecing Fundamentals while completing a Pride & Joy Quilting Pattern
  • Using 6 Cameras and Streaming Full Graphics, these workshops are the next best thing to being in person. You are able to obtain guidance and ask questions directly, all from the comfort of your home.

Current Presentations (Available Via ZOOM or In-Person)

Lecture 1: Finding Pride & Joy in Quilting, My Journey in Quilting

My presentation, titled "Finding Pride and Joy in Quilting," spans 60 minutes and delves deeply into my personal journey through the art of quilting. Beginning with traditional quilting practices, I explore my evolution into designing intricate, large-scale Foundation Paper Pieced (FPP) quilts and patterns.

Throughout the session, I cover a range of foundational topics in FPP, including insights gained from my own experimentation in design, the essential elements for successful pattern drafting, common pitfalls to avoid, and practical tips and techniques to enhance FPP skills. Additionally, I discuss modern approaches to color and fabric selection, strategies for minimizing bulk, and other advanced techniques vital to creating quality quilts.

My presentation style is highly interactive, allowing ample opportunities for attendees to pose questions tailored to their interests. I complement these discussions with live demonstrations illustrating key concepts and a curated trunk show featuring select quilt pieces.
