We’re so excited to be launching our full line of Bobbin Boxes, designed to solve a problem every quilter and sewist knows all too well: bobbin chaos. These boxes are thoughtfully made to fit the 4 most commonly used bobbin types—Class M, Class 15/15J, Class L, and Singer Featherweight—and come in 20 vibrant colors, including bold neons that spark joy every time you open them.

The inspiration was simple: I had no dedicated place to store the bobbins for any of my machines. With 2 longarms, 2 Berninas, a Juki, a Singer, and a Featherweight, I was constantly juggling different bobbin sizes, using whatever tins or plastic bags I had on hand—and it just didn’t feel good. It wasn’t practical. And more importantly, it wasn’t beautiful.

As quilters and makers, we’re intentional about what we bring into our creative spaces. We surround ourselves with tools and notions that bring us joy, that feel worthy of the work we pour our hearts into. That’s why the boys and I dreamed up something better: a bobbin box that feels like a jewelry box—elegant, functional, and full of color. With a subtle silky sheen and a thoughtful layout, these boxes let you sort your bobbins by size and by color—because beauty and order go hand in hand.

To make it even easier, I compiled a comprehensive guide to help you determine which bobbin class your machine uses—focusing on popular brands like BERNINA, bernette, Singer, Brother, Pfaff, Viking/Husqvarna, Janome, Featherweight, and JUKI, across both domestic and longarm models. Of course, the best way to confirm your machine’s bobbin type is to check your manual or do a quick search.

If there is still doubt about what bobbin you use, you can also measure the diameter and height to find the right bobbin size:

Inches

• Class M (Jumbo):  Diameter: 1 1/64 inches (1.02 inches) about the size of a US quarter, Height: 7/16 inches (0.435 inches). 
  
• Class L: Diameter: 13/16 inches (0.815 inches) about the size of a US nickel, Height: 15/32 inches (0.465 inches). 
• Class 15: Diameter: 13/16 inches (0.815 inches) about the size of a US nickel, Height: 7/16 inches (0.437 inches). 

Millimeters:

• Class M Bobbin: Approximately 24.9 mm in diameter and 10.7 mm in height/width.
• Class L Bobbin: Approximately 20.3 mm in diameter and 8.9 mm in height/width.
• Class 15 Bobbin: Approximately 20.3 mm in diameter and 11.7 mm in height/width
